In Charleston Indiana on October 2 Willis Beckett, 40, shot Rosa Lightcap, 24, in Henryville after an argument with her brother Will Lightcap. Pursuing posses and a frightened town await his capture, fearing lynching if he reaches jail. Rosa is gravely wounded with slight chance of recovery.

Clarence Condon from Latonia Kentucky traveled across Kentucky and Tennessee on foot amid a child recovery effort. Harrison Wome, a twelve year old half brother, had vanished from Latonia and was found working near Bur en. A court order and sheriff aided in returning the boy to his home.

Special Despatch reports David May a 31 year old dwarf newsstand proprietor missing after last evening. He purchased Chicago tickets in Elkheart and has vanished with no trace. his sister is prostrate. May lived with her. he was upright, had good business and substantial account.
Springfield reports Governor Yates diagnosed with typhoid fever. Attending physician Taydor stated the illness is well developed but there is no immediate danger, with no fever noted at present.
In Mecklenburg Prussia an Oct 10 trial concluded with three men sentenced for involvement in a burlesque poem read at a Liberal party banquet. Herr Brandt received one month in prison, Herr Stechert was fined 75 dollars, and Dr Wendorff paid 12.50. Becker faced potential imprisonment but was acquitted.
Special Despatch reports Mrs Leila Frazer the young woman attorney completes a cross state ride from Morgantown West Virginia to Columbus Ohio. She travels astride a horse in everyday attire and is followed by local reporters as she continues toward her destination. She will remain until joined by her husband.
In Welslembtad Curacad, October 29, reports say Arupano, a Bermudese town, was attacked by revelatione nei yang Moniay forces after an ox incident. One hundred men were involved in the clash and were repulsed.
Special despatch reports Miss Lena Wilson from Dayton was escorted home by City Infirmary staff after a disputed incident at a depot. She and a man named Marr traveled together to Lexington, then returned with Marr’s wife seeking explanations. Wilson remained in Dayton under observation as Marr’s whereabouts are unclear.
President Roosevelt plans a southern trip next month for official business and to attend Memphis reception for General Luke Y. Wright. He may accept an invitation to bear hunt in Mississippi as part of his tour. The visit may include Booker T. Washington’s proposed role as president and a possible encounter with prominent leaders.
Columbus dispatch notes General Grosvenor touring after campaign stops. He predicts Republicans will win a strong plurality in the state and elect seventeen of twenty-one or more, expressing confidence in the party’s prospects despite current doubts.

Raids and violence marked the last registration day in Porto Rico with riots reported in multiple towns. In San Lorenzo a mob attacked police leaving two rioters dead and fifteen wounded including three officers. Federals were barred from registering islandwide.
Dayton Ohio October ninth 1919 The family of Flora Schetter says she has returned home after a week’s mysterious absence and cannot answer questions about it. She is very weak and confined to her bed. Police and officials have not spoken to the girl during her absence.
