A lengthy eight hour session was filled with singing shouting and fighting as no official business was concluded. Members clashed verbally and physically during the proceedings preventing any formal action.
A Louisville crowd at the Kentucky Democratic State Convention devolved into a riot over police presence and candidate factions. The hall filled with guards and questions over packing the convention by John Whallen and city officials for Senator Goebel, halting business for hours amid clashes and disorder.
St Louis Elks Lodge No 9 replies to criticisms from travelers and visitors. Exalted Ruler David B Aloe says hundreds of local members cannot entertain 10 000 guests individually yet welcomes fair critique for any mistakes but not for things beyond their control. He notes the reunion was hailed as perhaps the greatest in the order's history with numerous entertainment features.
State Dairy and Food Commissioner Blackburn issued a circular warning the trade against lactobulu a product sold to restore bad butter and make it seem fresh The preparation is said to contain chrome yellow a cumulative poison It is made in Chicago and deemed illegal under Ohio law
Governor Pingree rejected a Washington dispatch that quoted Secretary Alger as saying he is for President McKinley first and last. Pingree stated his own stance depends on McKinley’s actions, and that he supports what is right while opposing what he views as wrong.
Chinese peasants armed with knives axes and clubs attacked the rail line from Kiaochow to Kiamo in revolt over railway policy. German troops launched a punitive expedition driving Chinese rioters from the station at Kiamo leaving ten dead and many wounded. Re-enforcements were sent as the Germans seek to restore order with further bloodshed feared.
In Kiel Prussia today a battle of flowers parade was staged by crews of all naval vessels aboard the imperial yacht Hohenzollern. Emperor William and other royals watched as ships carried symbolic crafts including a Lohengrin swan craft and a Chinese junk manned by marines. The event drew a large crowd and the emperor joined in the flower tossing.
Italian General Giuseppe di San Giuseppe convicted of espionage in WICE trial. He receives five years in prison and a 5000 franc fine after arrest June 12.

In Maysville Kentucky on June 26 sheriff Jas Meckey summoned six jurors for a case. After oath it appeared none of the jurors spoke to another. The jury was dismissed and the attorneys compromised the case without trial. Guards to be removed.
President McKinley laid the corner-stone of the New Berkshire Cotton Manufacturing Company mills at Adams Massachusetts. Owing to Mrs McKinley's cold the party left for Washington shortly before eight o clock.
In Richmond Indiana two women Miss Anna Shields and Miss Stella Thomas admit planning and carrying out a vitriol assault that blinded Lennard in one eye and left him permanently disfigured. Shields alone did the throwing while Thomas faltered to intervene. Lennard remains in serious condition awaiting medical updates.
In Chattanooga a drunk farmer William Hollywood sat on a water melon and burst it. A grocery clerk named Patterson berated him for the mishap and demanded payment. Hollywood cursed the clerk, who then struck with a garden hoe, killing Hollywood instantly.
The Queen Victoria returned from Balmoral to Alder shot for a grand review on the plains before 18 000 troops. Notable attendees included the Duke of Cambridge the Prince of Wales the Duke of York Grand Duke Michael of Russia and several princes and princesses. The ceremony showcased British military strength with dragoons Scots Camerons Royal Regiment and others marching past.
Eight hundred workers at the American and Foundry Company plant in Jeffersonville Ind refused to work demanding weekly wages under a new state law. The firm says it is exempt via the State Labor Commission and a biweekly agreement, while workers allege fake signatures and vow to sue. Plant operations are halted.
In Petersburg on June 26 a calfish event occurred as the caah ina gave birth to a daughter named Maria this afternoon.
A Manila cablegram reports Captain Clarke Captain Watson Lieutenant Ball and 200 sick or wounded from the Twentieth Kansas Regiment sent home. Only 450 men remain fit for duty on the firing line as the rest are relieved due to sickness. The regiment’s normal strength is about 1,200.
Maysville Kentucky June 2 Citizens of this city and county rejoice as the Fiscal Court and road owners reach a deal. The Maysville and Lexington, Maysville and Mt. Sterling, Mason and Bracken roads will be turned over to the county for 73000 and made free to the public.
General Lord Kitchener received 3200 dollars from the Earl of Minto on behalf of Canadians for the Gordon Memorial College Khartum endowment. The transfer was announced in London dated June 26. The fund supports Gordon Memorial College in Khartum and honors General Gordon.
Independents expressed displeasure over current arrangements and may nominate a separate ticket at a meeting scheduled for August 29. Party leaders urged unity while citing procedural deadlines and local party rules.

The State Democratic Central Committee met at the Arcade Hotel Springfield on June 2 to move the state convention to August 28 and 29 amid pressure from McLean supporters and Zanesville celebrations. Chairman W S Thomas, once stubborn for August 1–2, reversed stance after McLean allies prevailed and a dinner followed the session.
