Violent scenes in the Chamber of Deputies over royalist demonstrations against President Loubet. Government orders a commission probe into General Mercier’s conduct after Rennes court-martial decisions, with arrests of Royalist club members and police protection during the Auteuil incident.
Paris authorities shut the Automobile Club de France led by Comte De Dion after a protest. The police sealed the club in Place de la Concorde as Republican Guards patrolled nearby. Demonstrations were vigorously suppressed across the Champs Elysees Rue D Elysee and Rue des Tuileries.
Admiral Dewey heads home from Hongkong while rebel forces flee toward the mountains after abandoning Angono and Binangonan. Colonel Truman pursues along the Morong peninsula as General Hall moves toward Pasig. Washington troops report heat exhaustion and minor casualties as they retreat and regroup in the northern Morong area.
Admiral Dewey left the Peak Hotel for Olympia and paid farewell calls to the Governor General Gascoigne and harbor commanders. He aims to restore health with a quiet voyage home, declining social invitations and a farewell dinner, with possible calls at Singapore and Colombo.
Washington troops under Colonel Whalley landed at Morong after a naval bombardment by the Napidan and Covadonga. Rebels in the outskirts fired as the force moved ashore, nine rebels were killed and others wounded before the town fell to American forces. Insurgents then fired on the ships from Ancona shore batteries as the action continued.

President Loubet chaired the cabinet meeting and ordered the removal of Advocate General Lombart and directed Justice Minister Lebret to begin proceedings against President of the Assizes Court Tardiff for how cases against Deroulede and Habert were handled, after their acquittal of inciting soldiers at Loubet’s election. The fate of Generals De Boisdeffre and Gonse remained unresolved, and General Roget was transferred from Paris to Orleans.
Special dispatch reports the death of Jacob Young at his Dayton home on Hickory Street after a sixteen week illness. A respected longtime resident since 1850, he was a prominent local businessman with eleven children. his wife and ten children survive. Funeral arrangements will follow.

In Weston West Virginia a spring wagon return from church with Timothy Joyce his wife sister and daughter was struck by frightened horses that ran amuck ejecting all occupants. Joyce was killed Mrs Joyce and two other women were fatally injured with one more seriously hurt and possibly dying.
S M Reese assistant superintendent of the Ducktown Sulphur Copper and Iron Company was shot in the back as he walked toward the works three miles east of Ducktown Tennessee. Tracks of two men were found and bloodhounds were dispatched from Chattanooga to aid the search.
The region prepared as a detachment could move against Tom Baker and his brothers twelve miles away. Grand jury empaneled and no call for reinforcements unless rapid changes occur. Six or seven Turners from the Howards’ kin left Middlesboro for Manchester to attend the trial bearing arms but seeking no trouble.

The French squadron orders the Sfax to carry Captain Alfred Dreyfus from Devil's Island to France. Goeland sails from Cayenne with prison officials to notify him of the court action. Dreyfus will resume wearing his military uniform to attend the new council of war while under guard.

Major Count Esterhazy accuses Lt Col Du Paty de Clam of hiding safety documents in his mother in law s Brussels home. The Matin notes a Gonse report to shield Esterhazy and confirms the d Ursel family possession of documents. Du Paty de Clam s wife is a daughter of the Duchesse d Ursel, Queen s household grand mistress.
A Paris dispatch reports that Dreyfus was moved today to military authorities in Cayenne French Guiana. He will remain on Isle Royale until Thursday before boarding the French cruiser Sfax off Isle Royale.
The Sun reports Captain Alfred Dreyfus of the Fourteenth Artillery was arrested in Paris on October 15 1894 by order of General Mercier. He was held in Cherche Midi Military Prison for fifteen days without knowledge of the charges. The piece notes anti Semite pressure and claims evidence of three years of contact with a foreign agent. It mentions spies at the German Embassy and the bordereau fragments tied to Schwarzkoppen.
In Cleveland on June 5 Mrs May Harrington Hanna the divorced wife of Dan Hanna sold her grand Euclid Avenue residence for 50000 to Mrs Hannah Beckford. The deal cites a 50 revenue stamp. She will reside on Prospect Street near her mother and keeps custody and alimony rights.
In Tipton Indiana on June 5 Ollie Faurante a 15 year old attempting to kill a rat with a 32 caliber revolver shot John Crumbaugh 54 who was guarding a den of rodents. The ball pierced his heart and he died almost instantly.
Governor Sayers of Texas invited all Southern Governors and Attorney Generals to a September 20 meeting in St. Louis to coordinate action against trusts. The telegram was sent from Austin on June 5 and seeks a united regional stance.
Madrid report says Prime Minister Silvela overcame court prejudice to host American Minister Bellamy Storer. In Halifax Nova Scotia on June 5 the British regulars protested General Seymour orders limiting hair to three inches forbidding curling, requiring gloves and army shoes, banning trinkets, and restricting watches. Two abreast walking and other rules sparked a Royal Artillery row until troops were restrained.
The War Department hands distribution of artillery captured in Cuba and Puerto Rico to state Governors. One gun per state will be allotted. Governors must determine whether to loan or gift the pieces to soldiers' monument associations Grand Army posts or municipal bodies.
