A person was attacked by a mob at Loubet, described as a hooting assault. Police investigated the incident and searched for suspects, with witnesses providing brief statements and descriptions. A medical check indicated injuries but not life threatening.
Paris reports a premeditated riot at the Auteuil race course as President Loubet faced anti government crowds. Count Christiano struck the president’s hat with a cane. 130 arrests followed and Gen Bailloud shielded the chief executive during the melee.
Paris on June 4 witnessed wild excitement as Comtesse Boni De Castellane Miss Anna Gould led royalists along the race course. Boni De Castellane and his brother Jean were arrested and soon freed, while Comte De Dion resisted arrest and struck a policeman with his cane.

Mountain View Oklahoma on the Rock Island extension leased and moved a rival town Oakdale into one city. The merger occurred after a week of diplomacy and a $34 380 payment by Mountain View citizens. Oakdale now rolls toward Mountain View as the new consolidated town.
Paris reports the Cabinet Council ordered the cruiser Sfax to sail from Fort de France to transport Dreyfus to France. He will be taken to Brest by June 26 and lodged in Rennes military prison with restored rank, on deck hours 1 to 4. West Point, June 4. Fifty five candidates examined for admission to the Military Academy. Only three were rejected Martin of Indiana Warwick of Alabama and Merritt at large. Young Merritt is a nephew of General Wesley Merritt and was rejected on account of his eyes. He may be given another examination later. About 175 candidates remain to be examined.

Special Dispatch to Commercial Tribune reports W C Stiles a Warren Ohio ship timber manufacturer shot himself in a bedroom while his family was at church. Ill health cited. He owned mills in Warren and Harriman Tennessee and was a Civil War veteran. He is survived by his widow and adopted children.
Emil Schlup of Lovell, treasurer of Wyandot County Pioneer Association, received a gavel carved from a log taken from Colonel William Crawford's cabin by the Youghiogheny River opposite Connellsville. The gift came from Hon. H. P. Snider of Connellsville, and Schlup will present it at the Pioneer picnic next Saturday at Crawford.
Acting Secretary of War Meiklejohn and Adjutant General Corbin met with the President after midnight in Washington. Details were not disclosed and the purpose remains conjectural. A rumor said a call for volunteer troops would be issued tomorrow.
Three men who dynamited and robbed the Union Pacific mail train at Wilcox are tracked by a Union Pacific detective and posse across the Laramie plains toward Casper. A Casper sheriff reports an armed robbery threat as three outlaws dine in a ravine six miles west of Casper. The gang is believed to be within hours of reaching the Hole in the Wall country north of Casper.
New York residents Johanna Schilling 35 and her daughters Gertrude 10 Edna 8 were found dead from gas asphyxiation in their tenement home. Authorities suspect Johanna killed the children before taking her own life following a quarrel with husband Otto, who fled after a prior arrest warrant. A note from Johanna expressed guilt and farewell to Otto.
In Butler Kentucky, Mrs. Charles Piercy gave birth to twin girls about three weeks ago. Early this morning she picked up one crying infant and found the other dead. cause of death unknown.
Lexington dispatch reports three companies of Lexington State Guards sent from London to Manchester to prevent a confrontation during trial of the Bakers. Colonels Williams and Williams issue warnings of re-enforcements as factions from Harlan and Clay counties mobilize, with reports of killings and desertions weakening medical staff.
State troops camped at London, en route to Manchester to aid in the Bakers trial, woke at dawn and began a difficult trek over mountain roads with Gatling gun and baggage wagons. Crowds in London cheered as they moved, reaching Brown farm about 2 pm and entering tense feud territory near Manchester.
Cecil Swarthout of Lawrenceburg drowned while swimming in the Ohio River about a quarter mile above the wharfboat. He cramp ed while near shore while trying to reach the waves of the steamer City of Cincinnati and sank. body not recovered. Swarthout, a B&O railroad operator at the tower house, was well liked.
Mary Manderfield, a servant, died instantly when she attempted to turn on an incandescent basement light at Carlos D. Sheldon's West Houghton home. The shock occurred in the presence of her brother who also worked for Sheldon.
The three day strike in Pittsburg ends with workers returning to jobs at forty cents an hour. Previously they earned thirty five cents. About one thousand men are affected.
