Report of D C C 1933 Activities From Forest Service
The Civilian Conservation Corps in 75 camps across Montana northern Idaho and eastern Washington completed major projects in 1933 including 555 miles of roads built and 124 miles of trails. They installed 261 miles of telephone lines and maintained 880 miles, built 22 buildings and maintained 118, and built 136 bridges with 54 maintained. Fire losses were low and 11,000 man days were spent fighting fires while 3,512 man days went to tree nurseries for 6,000,000 seedlings. Newfoundland seal harvest totaled 105000 in early season versus 48600 in 1932.

Two Forests to Be Consolidated into Kaniksu National Forest
President Roosevelt approved merging Pend d'Oreille in northern Idaho and Kaniksu in eastern Washington into the Kaniksu National Forest, spanning about 1.4 million acres. Parts of Pend d'Oreille will join Coeur d'Alene for administration. Sandpoint, Idaho, will host headquarters. James D. Ryan of Newport will lead the expanded unit.
