Community Wheat Committee Appointments and Updates

Wheat growers contracts under the allotment plan are being processed by county committees at the courthouse. Several committees from Pendray Bynum Agawam Farmington Collins Diamond Valley Power and Bole filed, with others to come to Chateau. Directors will form a county allotment committee and organize the Teton County Wheat Control association by the 25th, naming committee chairmen for each community.

District 7 Woman's Clubs Convene in Conrad

The Conrad Woman's club hosts district 7 convention on October 23 and 24 with clubs from Cut Bank Shelby ChateauWalier Glacier Park Fairfield Dutton and Belfast represented. Officers include Pres A C Peterson Conrad vice pres M K Luther Chateau secretary N Withrow Walter treasurer E Zimmerman Bozeman. A banquet at the Conrad hotel on Monday evening October 28 features dance revue high school band readings by Mrs Thor Baker and a vocal solo by Mrs Lucille Essex.

Mixed Foursome Held Sunday Despite Handicaps

The Chateau Country Club mixed foursome faced travel and weather disruptions as hunting season opened. Only one pairings match completed with the rest rearranged or canceled. Results include Coffey Core, Baillie Hannan, McLean Bateman, Boussard Conlin, Smith Hentges, Hassos Core, Core Doughty, each defeating their opponents in the limited play.

Country Club Benefit Dance Slated For Hallowe'en Night

The Chateau Country Club will host its annual public dance on Hallowe'en night at the K. P. hall. Proceeds support the golf course and club properties. Tennant's orchestra will provide music. door prizes and planned features aim to ensure a lively evening. Arnold Hanusa chairs arrangements.

Browning Couple Married at St Luke's Rectory

Henry T Parsons son of Harry R Parsons and Florence DeGuire daughter of Henry DeGuire were married Monday afternoon in St Luke's rectory by Rev William Curran. Witnesses were Alva Atkins and Thedra Tomal.

Moore Reappointed Special Game Warden in Two Counties

John Moore of this city has been reappointed as a special game warden for the big game hunting season. The State Fish and Game commission made the appointment on the recommendation of the Teton County Sportsmen's association. His district covers Cascade county near Neihart and parts of Teton county. He went to Neihart to begin duties, with possible extension beyond the season if funds allow.

Allum Brings First Elk of Season to Chateau

Allum arrived Monday with a cow elk taken Sunday on Route creek in the Sun river drainage. He packed in Saturday and brought out the first elk. Frank Henderson, formerly with the Allum dray line, joined the camp and took an elk calf Monday. Hunters flocked to the hills for opening day despite snow in the Teton section. Deer were abundant in Ford creek country but none brought to town. deer may not be killed in Teton county.

Ellen Shields Assigned Cadet Teacher in Missoula High

Ellen Shields of Dutton enrolled in the State university fall practice teaching course and was assigned as cadet teacher in mathematics at Missoula county high school. Practice classes began last week and continue through the quarter with twenty one students practicing in Missoula grade and high schools and six slated to teach at the state university. All prospective teachers must enroll for the course.

Institute Dates Oly by County Superintendent

The Teton county rural and elementary teachers institute will be held November 1 and 2 at the Chateau public school. Sessions run 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4:30 p.m. Speakers include Margaret Hood, Alice Mattison, Henrietta Crockett, J. A. Williams, and Elizabeth Ireland. Music teachers and supervisors are invited to special sessions. The next day the Teton County Teachers association meets with officer elections planned.

Prayer and Legion Meetings in Fort Benton District

A Fort Benton district program lists a prayer service with Mrs George Carroll and Mrs Longfellow, a district business meeting at the Court House presided by K. C. Knutson, and a 7 p.m. banquet with Bert I. Packer noted.

Cook and Chatter 4 H Club Concludes Season With Program

The Cook and Chatter 4 H Club of Chateau ended its 1933 year with an achievement day at Mrs. J. E. Hodgskiss home. Mothers and guests attended a 4 H breakfast of club member recipes. Twenty meals were served along with breakfast material exhibits. Officers were Louise Clarkson president and Margaret Hodgskiss secretary treasurer. Yell Duchess Elsie Hirshberg Leads Montana U Parade

Missoula October report notes Elsie Hirshberg a sophomore in the State university journalism school was appointed yell duchess for the student body. She helped lead yells and songs with the yell king and other duchesses at the campus parade and pep rally on the Missoula ballpark oval in preparation for the State University vs Washington State college football game Saturday.

Visitors attended the Fidelity chapter O. E. S. anniversary exercises and banquet last Wednesday. Mrs Ferris Takes Readers Through Eastern U K Trip

Mrs Eugene Ferris narrates a East Coast tour story in a letter to The Acantha. The couple travels from Toledo to Cleveland to New York visiting Buffalo and Niagara Falls with Niagara Walls Canada on the itinerary while Gene Ferris attends the World Series finale in New York. Elva Hanusa, who taught in Pendroy and later at Midlton near Dutton, married H. C. Dickman in Chicago on Sept. 29. The groom works in the post office department. The couple will reside at 1489 Hyde Park Boulevard, Chicago. Elva is sister to Arnold Hanusa of Teton county.

Maro Butchart Earns Freshman Honor at State University

Marc Butchart of Chateau is named a member of a new men s chorus at the Montana state university. The chorus will perform at the Montana Washington State College football game. Butchart also appears on a list of 15 students recognized for dramatic talent from tryouts in the Little Theatre building.

Rainbow Caught By G C Core Wins First Place

Postmaster G C Core of Chateau caught an eight pound one ounce rainbow trout last Thursday at Pishkun reservoir to win the rainbow class in Morris Sporting Goods summer big fish contest in Great Falls. The eight prize rod honor followed a 24 hour possession rule. other prizes covered 13 categories including cutthroat brook and pike.

Good Market for Horses Drives Shipments to Illinois

Two carloads of horses and one carload of sheep were shipped Tuesday over the Great Northern for points in Illinois. Shippers R. A. Clearman and G. O. Haines note this is the eighth carload of horses shipped by them between the Teton and Sun rivers, with considerable demand for horses.

Woman's Club Notes on Italian Program and Book Day

The Italian program at the C. W. Burns home drew a large audience. Miss Katharine MacDonald gave a talk on arts and country customs. Jewelry and leather from Italy were shown. Miss Hazel Trescott sang Ave Maria. Arnold Hanusa spoke on the NRA. Book Day was set for November 7 at the library with tea served by a committee. The club approved a $1.50 donation to the library and invites the public to contribute.

Former sign painter dies in duck boat accident near Chateau

Ford R. Lake 26 a former Great Falls sign painter and sole son of Mr and Mrs August Lake Bozeman died near Priest Lake after a duck hunting trip with brother in law Donald Roth Sun River. Their boat capsized in rising wind Roth swam across with an inner tube to reach shore and drag Lake through mud to safety but Lake died en route to Chateau hospital. Funeral arrangements set after body moved to Bozeman.

Flowers for Veterans at Fort Harrison Armistice Day

A veterans' flowers event at Fort Harrison coincides with Armistice Day. On Tuesday November 7 the regular business meeting occurs with a short afternoon session. Ticket prices for a cutwork tablecloth have been cut to 25 cents, refunds for 50 cent tickets offered until noon October 25, and a two ticket draw will be added for those who paid 50 cents. The lucky number will be drawn at the Chateau library on book day November 7.
