Forest Service completes slash burning near West Fork
District Ranger Bob Richmond reports 89 acres of logging slash burned by controlled burn on October 7 and 8 in the West Fork Teton River area. A wind-driven escape burned seven acres of green timber outside a cutting block while six Indian fire crews totaling 104 men fought the blaze. Most crews left by October 8, with mop-up continuing two days more. Natural reforestation will begin as seedbeds were prepared, and tree regeneration is already noted on a nearby block burned in 1966.
