Cut Bank Wolves beat Choteau Bulldogs 22-18 in a penalty filled homecoming game at Choteau. Key plays include a first half safety for Choteau and a late fourth quarter TD by Buck to Rich Allen, with Cut Bank’s Bill Hanna adding a 30 yard score. Fort Benton looms next, then Browning closes season.

To Meet Saturday Teton Elders Set Annual Meeting

The Teton's oldest settlers will hold their annual meeting this Saturday October 16 at the IOOF and Legion halls starting 6 30 p m with a dinner followed by the business meeting program and dance. Cards will be played for those who do not wish to dance. Annual dues are 1 per person. If unable to attend please send dues to Pearl Tangen secretary treasurer.

Hospital District Meetings Set Across Teton County

The Teton Memorial Hospital board schedules public meetings in Fairfield, Chateau, Dutton, and Power to explain a proposed county hospital district. Meetings start at 8 p m on Oct 20 21 27 and 28. Voters will decide on Nov 2. Organizations may request board attendance by contacting Ron Hinman or Jim Humble.

Education Week Observance To Feature Parent Visitations

The Chateau Public Schools will host a 1971 Education Week with classroom visitations by parents and other observers on Wednesday October 27 from 9 AM to 4 PM. Visitors will receive floor plans, schedules, and may move between classes every four minutes in upper grades with regular activities continuing. Superintendent R W Gormley urges local residents to attend and observe the schools in action.

Sew It Yourself Style Show Planned by Jayceens

The Jayceen sponsored event will run Saturday Oct 16 at 8 p.m. in the Chateau High School auditorium with Mrs Jim Crawford narrating as models display self made garments. A dress rehearsal is set for Friday at 8 p.m. Entries this year revived the show after fears of cancellation.

Parenthood Clinic To Start Oct 28

A preparation for parenthood clinic begins Thursday October 28 at 7 30 p m in the board room of Teton Memorial Hospital. It covers pre natal care baby care and a tour of the maternity ward under the direction of Mrs Lawrence Swenson public health nurse and Mrs Howard Koch RN sponsored by the Chateau Jayceens. All expectant parents are welcome.

Teton County 4 Hers Honored At Annual Recognition Dinner

Teton County 4 H members, leaders and guests gathered Oct 3 at Fairfield Community Hall for the annual recognition dinner. About 250 attended as donors were thanked and awards presented including NFC traveling plaque to Carla Hodgskiss and a Sheep trophy to Richard Christy. Robin Baquet received the I Dare You Award with a trip to National 4 H Congress in Chicago.

Mabel S. Thorson Dies in Choteau at 85

Mabel S. Thorson, 85, died Friday in Choteau. Funeral services were held Monday at Bethel Lutheran Church in Joplin with burial in Joplin Cemetery. She was born in Pigeon Falls Wisconsin and lived near Joplin since 1913. She married Gilbert Thorson in 1905. he died in 1934. Survivors include daughters Gladys Chateau, Vi Leichner Boise, Al Tabor Warm Springs, Beulah Anderson Fairfield, son Cliff Joplin, 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Voters have less than three weeks to choose candidates for the special Constitutional Convention to be held Nov 2. District 15 includes Teton Pondera Toole and Glacier counties with four of nine candidates at stake. Also on the ballot are Referendum No 68 and a proposed county hospital district for Teton.

Hours Announced for Patrons of Choteau Exercise Center

The Body Shop in Choteau at A and E Lanes opens a new exercise center with 25 enrollments. Women’s hours run 9 to 11 am weekdays and 2 to 6 pm Mon Wed Fri Sun, plus 6 to 10 pm Tue Thu Sat. Men exercise 6 to 10 pm Mon Wed Fri Sat and 2 to 6 pm Tue Thu Sat. An open house is planned in early November. Contact Arvid or Kay Sunder for details.

Farm Bureau To Meet Here In Teton County

The Teton County Farm Bureau annual meeting set for Oct 21 includes a 3 p.m. business session at Cornell Hotel and a 6 30 p m dinner in the lower Masonic hall. Officers and delegates to the 1971 state convention will be elected and topics include membership marketing taxation natural resources. Hutterite Child Killed in Accident at New Rockport Colony

A two year old Hutterite girl Mary Wipf was struck and killed by a grain truck at New Rockport Colony east of Chateau on Saturday afternoon October 9 according to County Coroner Lee Zwerner. The driver Mike D Hofer said glare from the sun prevented him from seeing the child. Funeral services were held at the Colony on Monday.

Democrats Schedule Dinner Meeting for Teton County

The Teton County Democratic Central Committee will hold its regular meeting on Monday Oct 18 at 8 p.m. in the court house in Chateau to elect officers. A Democrats dinner is set for tonight Oct 14 at Fairfield Community Hall starting 6 30 p.m. Senator Dick Ozivi of Great Falls will speak on Sales Tax and Income Tax. Tickets available at the door.

Carole Baumgartner Dies in Great Falls at 29

Catholic services were held Saturday at St. Joseph's Church Chateau for Carole Elaine Baumgartner 29 who died October 6 in a Great Falls hospital after a short illness. Rosary was held Friday at Zwerneman Mortuary. She was born January 15 1942 at Cut Bank and married Donald Baumgartner July 10 1959 in Choteau. Survivors include her husband parents and several siblings and children.

Funeral Services Held on Monday For Maria Stefanoff

Mrs. Evan Stefanoff age 81 born February 9, 1890 in Bulgaria died October 8 in a Great Falls hospital. She immigrated to the United States with her husband in 1912 and lived in Ashuelot Montague and Choteau before settling in Choteau where she worked as a Milwaukee Railroad foreman wife. Funeral services held October 11 at 2 p.m. at Choteau United Methodist Church with Zwerneman Mortuary in charge. Burial at Highland Cemetery in Great Falls. Reverend Allen Adams officiated with music by organist Mrs. Ray Ballantyne and vocalist Robert Gronberg. Pallbearers listed. Survivors include two sons Steve Spokane and John Great Falls and three grandchildren. daughter Helen died in 1948. Memorials to Heart Fund or Billy Graham Association.
