Association Opposes Knowles Dam in Montana
The Montana Reclamation Association voted to oppose Knowles dam on the Flathead River and asked the National Reclamation Association to back its stance. It urged limiting federal water development funds to practical, beneficial irrigation projects in Montana and encouraged private capital to develop resources, while opposing projects that would flood land or displace residents. Executive committee members met Gov. Tim Babcock to discuss further water development, with leaders including Axel Parsson, Oscar P. Balgord, O. A. Bergeson, Harold Hagen, and John Baucus.
