Sir St George Gore Expedition Slaughtered Buffalo for Sport
A historical summary recounts Sir St George Gore’s 1854 Western hunt starting from St Louis. The 40 plus caravan killed thousands of buffalo including 6000 in one camp, drawing Congress scrutiny and early wildlife protections. Gore’s lavish camp, brutal method, and clashes with Americans, Indians, and fur interests shaped a merciless era of robe hunting and buffalo decline.

Rare Arrowhead Found in Fergus by Forest Ranger L. H. Me
A twisted flint arrow head, rare and ancient, suggests early Native American knowledge of physics by improving in flight stability. Forest Ranger L H Me Lean reported the find in the Snowy Mountains near Fergus. Paleontologist S Barnum Brown of the American Museum noted few such specimens exist. A crude limestone spear point was also found in the same Snowies trip.
