The board of directors of the Teton County Agricultural Conservation Association met at the courthouse to plan soil conservation program details. Charles Proff was elected president M B Bolland vice chairman Martin Olson the third member with W H Wellenstein as alternate W D Reiquam treasurer and the county agent secretary. A temporary budget of 3272 for June 1936 and 17040 for July 1 1936 to June 30 1937 was adopted with revisions later if needed.

Al Udin Seeks Third Term as Fairfield County Commissioner
Al Udin of Fairfield filed Tuesday for the Democratic nomination for the first district county commissioner seat. He has served 12 years, with a record of road and bridge improvements, extension service support, county nurse funding, fair taxation reclassification, and attention to the needy. Born in Sweden in 1878, he came to the United States, worked in Great Falls, homesteaded near Fairfield, and built a sheep business with a family including two sons and two daughters. he was remarried after his first wife died in 1918.

Best Tax Collection Since 1918 Says Treasurer Dies
James Oscar VanArsdale known as Van by many in Teton county died about midnight Monday at Maynard hospital from pneumonia and complications. He was manager of Farmers Mercantile Co in Dutton for years and leaves a son Allen G. VanArsdale of Dutton and sisters in the east. Funeral Friday at 2 p m in the Dutton auditorium with Masonic and Woodmen rites. Burial in Dutton cemetery.

Teton County Sportsmen association directors convened Monday to hear membership drive results and approve a fish and game bird requisition for the coming season. They plan to open a 15 day deer closed season and goats season Oct 15 to Nov 1 while considering Chinese pheasant openings. A fish ladder for canal out of Bynum reservoir was also discussed.

A county wide Memorial Day observance sponsored by the three American Legion posts in Teton County featured Earl Genzberger, state commander, delivering the address at Chateau. Planning Survey to Map Montana Roads in Teton County
Officials and assistants from the Montana Highway Planning survey arrived in Choteau to begin a road logging program across the county. G. B. Dowe will supervise from the Choteau hotel as crews document distances road types classifications bridges culverts and school bus routes. The effort, part of a long term state highway improvement program with the Montana highway commission and U S bureau of public roads, includes two three person crews and mileage records. Chateau Nine to Meet CCCs Sunday at Local Diamond
A Twilight league picked nine from this city will play the CCC camp team from company 1999 at the local diamond Sunday afternoon at 2 30. Opponents and battery are not announced. CCC was defeated 11 to 6 by Fairfield nine last Sunday. Blues and Blacks tied 6 to 6 Thursday amid an argument with Judge Landis. Monday’s rainout postponed the May 25 game and no new date set. Tonight’s game pits Blues against Browns.

Choteau Lions Observe Ninth Charter Night
The Choteau Lions marked their ninth charter night with a banquet at the Masonic hall attended by about 145. W. W. Smith introduced J. B. Conlin who awarded six members the International Lions attendance pin for 32 meetings. New member George Duvendack was welcomed. Delegations from Great Falls and Browning spoke. Knute Bergan announced the Many Glacier district convention and a planned Chateau day. A program of music and dancing followed at the Legion pavilion with acts by Leslie Jourdonnais and others. Local Lions toured Cut Bank oil fields the next morning.

Mother of Local Hotel Man Dies in Great Falls
Wm. Schneider Jr. of the Chateau hotel family rushes to Great Falls when his mother Mrs. Wm. Schneider Sr. fell ill and underwent major surgery. She died Tuesday night at age 48, after residing at 316 Fourth Avenue North.
