Remington Transferred to Washington D C Office
Charles E. Remington, longtime head of Roads and Trails for the Northern Region, is reassigned to the Washington D C Division of Engineering. He will be succeeded by H T Holmquist, a civil engineer from the Washington office who previously served on the White Mountain National Forest. Holmquist is expected to arrive in Missoula around August 1.

Montana PMA chair R J McKenna cites five tests showing topsoil loss delays from 3,900 to 95,800 years when dense cover exists. Clean tillage without rotation yields 16 to 51 years to erode 7 inches. rotations with humus buildup greatly reduce erosion. The Agricultural Conservation program aids farmers in soil-saving rotations and vegetative cover to prolong farm life.
