Private Economy in Danger Warns Chamber Leader
Archie K. Davis of the U S Chamber of Commerce says the House approved Social Security bill H R 1 could destroy the private economy with a guaranteed income possibly as high as 75 billion dollars a year. He notes gains to 6500 would swamp welfare costs and urges reform focused on work and training. The National Chamber backs limiting benefits to unemployable recipients and pushing job training to reduce welfare rolls. The Senate will decide on doubling minimums, and citizens are urged to weigh in.
