Montana gains in life insurance and minerals dominate Capitol news
Montana shows a five percent rise in ordinary life insurance purchases in the first half of the year reaching 28.6 million dollars, part of a national trend with 14 states up. Mining output climbs in 1947 led by zinc lead ore and zinc, with ore from Butte dumps cited, while copper declines slightly. Public notices include antelope permits and regulatory opinions from the state attorney general and public service commission. Resources of 7713 Montana state banks surge to 264.94 million with building and loan associations totaling 20.66 million. A 1949 irrigation and reclamation plan is proposed, funded by state boards and associations, plus a detailed program for water projects and distribution. Zinc production in early 1948 rises despite national declines.
