Frances Denison Weds Howard Brush Jr in Chateau Double Ring
Frances Denison daughter of Mr and Mrs Ira Denison of Bynum wed Howard Brush Jr son of Mr and Mrs Howard Brush of Minneapolis in a double ring ceremony at the Methodist church in Chateau. The bride wore a white satin gown with lace panels and a full train. The ceremony included music and readings by local participants. About 120 guests attended a reception. Afterward the couple left for a honeymoon to Glacier Park and the Black Hills en route to Minneapolis where Brush will continue studies at the University of Minnesota.

Conrad Girl Dies In Vacation Accident
Four year old Joanne Claire Kack daughter of Mr and Mrs Joe Kack of Conrad was killed August 6 in Coeur d Alene Idaho after chasing a ball into the street and being struck by a gravel truck rear wheels. She lived at the Pondera oil fields and was visiting with her parents. Joanne born November 23, 1943 is survived by her parents a brother Donny age 7 and sister Marilyn age 2. Funeral was in the Latter Day Saints hall in Bynum with Rev McCorkle officiating. Pallbearers Merrill Hawley Jay Tyner Kenneth Weist and Ronny Moser. Out of town attendees included Mr and Mrs Ed Ochsner and Mrs Henry Ochsner and daughter of Tuttle North Dakota.

Fire Threat at Choteau Creamery
A late Thursday fire threatened the Choteau Creamery but was controlled by the Choteau fire department. The blaze did not rupture the roof and was confined to the second floor. Proprietor Wv. C. Peterson had left the plant shortly before with no earlier sign. The creamery resumed operations the next morning.

Gymkhana Invitations Sent Out for Choteau Event
The Teton Saddle club has mailed invitations to saddle clubs across the state for a gymkhana in Chateau on August 21 at 7 p m under high school floodlights. A free chuckwagon dinner starts at 5 p m at the Legion pavilion followed by a parade to the football field. Mae Tracy and Audrey Crabtree will perform trick riding among novelty events and races. Earl Hollar leads arrangements with a public dance after. Free horse lodging and feed are offered for overnight visitors.

Bernard Martin Buried In Choteau L'Set
Bernard T. Martin died in Germany on Oct. 14 1948 and was buried in the Soldiers plot at Choteau cemetery Monday. Funeral services were held at St John’s Catholic church in Fairfield with military honors from local posts. He was born Jan 24 1922 in Choteau and served as radio operator gunner in the Army Air Forces. He is survived by his parents two sisters and a brother, all of Fairfield.

Dutch Immigrant Family Finds Hope in Choteau
Mrs. Jack Tholen and her family, Dutch immigrants, arrived in New York from Rotterdam aboard the New Amsterdam and settled in Choteau to start anew. They left due to hardship with no future in Holland and fear another war in Europe. The husband works as a bricklayer for Duke Blakely, and the family plans to stay in Choteau, praising their new home.

Betty Don McMillan of Lewistown, Montana, spoke to the Chateau Lions Tuesday on adult cooperation for 4-H clubs. She recounted Montana’s 4-H National Camp experience in Washington DC and noted tour stops in New York Niagara Falls Detroit and Chicago. The meeting also reviewed the club’s program committee chaired by Dr. H W Bateman and thanked the Montana Chamber of Commerce for a $423 stamp promotion sale plus rodeo and soft drink proceeds.

Johnson Flying Service reports spraying about 28 000 acres for weed control since April 15 at Chateau. They also dusted 12 000 acres for grasshoppers and sprayed 3 000 acres for insects on peas with 24 D and DDT.
