J H Meyer of Chateau will address the Farmington temperance society on Saturday evening May 4. Meyer has long been an observer and participant in temperance work and is noted for extensive public speaking experience.
The flood along the lower Mississippi has claimed over two hundred lives. Nebraska and Oregon join Illinois and Pennsylvania in presidential preference primaries for Roosevelt. Tornadoes in Oklahoma Kansas Illinois and Indiana cause heavy property loss and fatalities.
At a Great Falls dinner President Earling announced that work on the Milwaukee extension between the Falls and Lawistowne would start within thirty days and trains would reach Great Falls by next summer. John D. Ryan of Amalgamated Copper said power development on the Missouri would begin immediately and a large flour mill would be built in Great Falls. The extension may become part of the trunk line to the west coast.
The Farmington column lists baseball practice on the diamond last Sunday. It notes Misses Kale returning from Great Falls and Miss Jessie Reynolds teaching on the Muddy leaving for Flathead. Various residents visit from Great Falls Brady Collins and others with school events and marriages mentioned including Betsey Lindseth and Alfred Schibstead in Great Falls.
Commissioners led by Chairman Miller dispute Tribune claims on Sunriver Simms bridge costs. They state initial talks favored Cascade bearing three-fourths, with Teton offering one third later, and deny any shift to half.
The high school announc es a Visitors Day with forenoon classes and afternoon exhibits. From 1 to 2 pm demonstrations in chemical and physical labs sewing drawing and penmanship will be shown. At 2 pm five contestants compete in the final declamatory contest followed by an athletic tryout for events at the Missoula interscholastic meet.
Minutes document the March term proceedings of the Teton County Montana Board of County Commissioners. It records motions, votes, financial accounts, contracts, and official actions approved or referred for further handling during the session. The summary lists official actions affecting county offices, expenditures, and public works as recorded in the 1912 archival record.
The Republican State Central Committee calls a state convention in Livingston Montana at noon May 16 1912 to elect eight delegates and eight alternates to the Chicago National Convention. Counties receive delegate counts with Beaverhead Blaine Broadwater and others listed and rules for contesting delegations.
Acantha reports a new pure bred sire league formed at a mass meeting with eleven charter members. Officers elected: J. H. Meyer president, Dr C J B Stephens secretary, T D Moore treasurer. A constitution and by laws committee will report May 4 at 2 p.m. Stock raisers are urged to join.
The Right Rev Bishop Carroll will arrive Sunday evening May 12. He will preach at the church and administer the Sacrament of Continuation at 8 p.m. Confessions are heard Sunday night and Monday morning before the eight o'clock mass. The bishop, with the pastor and assisting priests, will depart Chateau at midday Monday for Augusta.

A Tuesday evening meeting completed the reorganization of the Chateau Development Club. Officers elected include Dr. C. J. B. Stephens as president, H. A. Prescott as vice president, Jas. Eckford as treasurer, and C. S. McDonald A. B. Guthrie and Dr. H. W. Bateman as committee heads. secretary to be chosen by the executive committee. The club will be in working order once the secretary is selected. A member canvass has yielded encouraging numbers and several matters are before the club for investigation.
The state notes a new federal building site in Miles City and ongoing work on the Great Northern hotel in Glacier National Park. Helena will gain a new Great Northern station on the current site, while pay dirt in Helena’s hotel excavation is valued at about 1.50 per yard.
Lake Basin residents made short trips to Choteau Power and Lowry on Wednesday Thursday. Families and neighbors gathered for school meetings state business and personal matters with several staying to attend a board meeting and other local affairs.
Miss Betsey G Lindseth of Farmington and Alfred A Schibsted of Power wed at Rev A G Lunde’s Norwegian Lutheran church yesterday at 4 PM. The rancher groom and bride depart today for Power. They are well known and have many friends in Marwington and Chateau.
Jay Russell retires from the Royal restaurant and D B Stackhouse along with A B Watt take over. The restaurant will close from April 25 to May 1 for the management change. New managers invite the town and community to patronize the business.
