The White Star liner Titanic sinks off Newfoundland after iceberg strike. Over 1300 passengers and crew perish. 682 saved by Carpathia. Notables aboard include John Jacob Astor and Benjamin Guggenheim. Archibald Butt among the survivors awaited.
Early spring assessments in the county show a sharp expected increase in 1912 valuations. Deputies report difficulty keeping up with last year’s schedule due to many new residents and much new property.
