Rockies win slow pitch tourney in Chetwynd
Eight teams competed with the Rockies of Chetwynd taking first place. Armadillo Steams of Fort St. John finished second and Dusters from Chetwynd placed third. Other teams from Dawson Creek and Mackenzie were noted as placers with sponsors Otto Gerstel Black Brothers Girards and Midvalley Electric. Shelly Morton captains the Dusters. Rain dampened weekend camping and many park spaces were vacant. Mr and Mrs M Hayward travel to Manitoba to attend Muriel's mother's funeral.

Measure of a man and his true worth
Not how he died but how he lived is the measure of a man. The verse asks if he shared kindness, aided those in need, and offered encouragement at work. It rejects race creed and obituary lines, urging reflection on the impact one leaves behind.
Revised rating for B C Hydro downgrading no surprise
Vancouver CP. Hydro chairman Robert Bonner says the Moody’s downgrade from triple A to double A plus will not raise consumer costs or Bond yields for BC Hydro. He noted market reaction was minor and that new borrowings, likely under 1 billion, could cost more if higher rates are needed. Bonner called the move a sign of confidence despite the recession.
