Mr and Mrs Kepner Return From Eastern Trip
Mr and Mrs J M Kepner arrived home from an extended eastern trip visiting Chicago Washington Boston New York Philadelphia and other points of interest. Mrs Kepner was seriously ill in New York. Mr Kepner sold fourteen Klondike mining claims and may have sold two more if abstracts were complete. Band boys serenaded them Monday evening. He will return to Dawson City after going to Seattle to arrange outfit and transportation to Alaska.

City council approves Chehalis Water deal and Sitka Street plank
The council closed the Chehalis Water company deal and continued drainage and brick paving to the next meeting. Ordinance 178 for Sitka street planking passed. Sub sewer district petition by Boistfort street residents postponed to April 18.

Institute Close Marks End of Big State School Meeting
State Superintendent Browne gave an engaging lecture at the opera house Thursday night to a large audience. Friday Browne spoke on school law at the institute and discussions followed. A resolutions committee honored those responsible for the institute’s success. An old time love feast featured brief speeches by teachers and visitors. James D. Gibson, formerly of Newaukum, plans to move this month with his uncle John Hammond to Dawson city. Gibson is blind and has lived in Seattle and other cities.

Settlement Reached Between Millett Harmon and Interstat L
Millett and Harmon effected a settlement with the Interstat Building and Loan of Minneapolis on claims totaling about 500 dollars against H. H. Scribner Mrs. Mary Loveless Berry and McCord and the I.O.C. F. The agreed amount is about 30 percent of the companys claim.

County to Fight Northern Pacific for Back Taxes
County commissioners hired C H I Forney and M A Langhorne to pursue back tax payments from the Northern Pacific Railway. They will take 10 percent of what they collect and may urge reassessment for 97 taxes and earlier years. Assistant Attorney General Vance’s opinion is expected soon.

Happy Wedding in Chehalis Bride From Knoxville Iowa
Harry B. Quick and Hattie A. Neely married Wednesday evening at the groom’s home in Chehalis with Rev. T. E. Elliott officiating. The ceremony united a local indus trial youth and a Knox ville si ster with strong Methodist ties. Guests included the grandmothers Mrs E Quick and Mrs E Kitch and many local families. the Chehalis band serenaded later. Masons plan a Saturday work event and the next meeting will include further lodge duties.
