Plan Effort To Lift Curb At Wellhead
NEW ORLEANS AP Independent oil operators push a third try to remove wellhead natural gas prices from federal control. The Independent Petroleum Association of America aims to present a complete decontrol bill to the new Congress, backed by a broad campaign to sway public opinion and lawmakers. The policy cites a decade of unproductive Federal Power Commission price controls and asserts producers should be freed from regulation. Previous decontrol bills passed Congress twice but were vetoed by Presidents Truman and Eisenhower. Johnson as a senator supported both vetoes.
