Firefighters Hope to Ring In Rocky Mountain Timber Fire
Colorado fire crews welcomed a second shower as 125 firefighters plus 25 park service staff and 100 Crow Indians worked to encircle a fifth day timber blaze in Rocky Mountain National Park. Rain and hail slowed the fire but allowed crews to douse hot spots as they attempt to fully ring the flames, with 800 to 900 acres burned in Prospect Valley. Basements flooded in Brush and at the University of Colorado campus in Boulder as heavy rain eased drought conditions.
