Arrowhead Collector Discovers Skeleton Remains Near Dodge City
Donald Roth, a 15 year arrowhead and Indian relics collector from Dodge City, found what may be a prehistoric Indian skeleton on Buckner Creek in Hodgeman County about 25 miles north of town. The jaw size suggests ancient origin and the find was reported to the Kansas Anthropological Association.

Two Infants Die Of Starvation In East Side Tenement
In New York City an 2 year old girl and 8 month old boy died of starvation in an East Side apartment. Their mother, Anastasia Velez, 32, was arrested after kicking a tavern window when removed. She had been in Bellevue Hospital for observation as police noted no known relatives. The children died four to five days before discovery, and the family had been on relief since August 1953 after moving from Puerto Rico eight years ago.

Tulsa minister slain after hitchhiker ride and manhunt
The body of 24 year old Tommie Robert Cooke, an assistant pastor from Tulsa, was found after Edward Leon Williams admitted shooting him. Williams fled through Kiowa Mountain country, was captured near Wilburton, and confessed to forcing Cooke to pull over before shooting him in the head. Williams earlier robbed a Talihina store and carjacked motorists during a day long chase.
