Court upholds DOT license revocation in Kratchmer OWI case
The Iowa Court of Appeals on a 2-1 verdict reinstated the Iowa DOT decision revoking Allen Kratchmer’s driver license after he claimed workplace chemical exposure tainted his blood alcohol tests. He argued unreliable results from chemicals at work, but the court found insufficient proof to overturn the revocation.

Methamphetamine rising among youths in Iowa treatment program
OA Cedar Rapids area ASAC treats about 75 youths ages 13 to 17 amid a shift from cocaine to meth among adolescents. Scaglia notes meth is easy to make, widely available, and often sourced from makeshift labs, with “ice” presence traced to Hawaii. Youths abusing Ritalin also stockpile dosages for self use or sale, while treatment shows low relapse so far though the program is only a year old.
