Murder ends quiet life of Iowa City woman Frances Bloomfield

Frances Bloomfield, 57, formerly of Minneapolis, was found strangled in a roadside ditch near Rockford Illinois. She had worked 15 years at the Courage Center in Minneapolis as art and production manager before moving to Iowa City two years ago with her husband John Bloomfield. Friends recall a private but charming person who enjoyed life and faced a difficult long commute. The husband, a former Honeywell employee, had reported her missing Monday morning after Paris business travel. Bloomfield’s death is under Illinois authorities’ investigation.
