Man Must Pay Jail Officer for 2003 Assault
Daniel Corbett, serving 10 years for the death of Michael Kearney, was ordered by Judge Denver Dillard to pay Johnson County jailer Sgt. Douglas Gwinn nearly $79,000 for a March 8, 2003 assault. The total award reached $78,772.95 including over $52,000 in punitive damages. Corbett, 22, from Arlington Heights, Illinois, previously pleaded guilty to willful injury and received three years probation.
