New War Advertising Slogans Sweep British Shops
London advertisers adapt wartime lexicon with sales pitches. A bookshop urges readers to "read while they raid" while a shampoo maker cautions against "blackout the highlights in your hair" and a patent medicine proclaims "a doctor's barrage against ill health." Other spots show how to soften hands for trench work and soothe a colonel’s nails with chocolates. A portable heater is pitched for air raid shelters.
