George Hoffner aged 28 of 1211 Third Avenue SE suffered severe head cuts and a badly cut right wrist when he turned his car to pass parked vehicles on the Center Point Urbana road west of Center Point, hit loose gravel and crashed into a telephone pole. Deputies reported the 1 am scene visit. Hoffner was cared for by a Center Point physician and taken to Urbana relatives’ home. Separately Mrs Bernice Fuller aged 32 and Lowell Fuller 32 and Everett Thomas 22 were involved in a two car collision six miles south of Cedar Rapids on Highway 218 leaving Mrs Fuller with head bruises and a cut hand.
