A 1967 agriculture department study of 157 feedlots in California and the western Corn Belt shows corporations own nearly half of large operations and a bare majority overall. Of the 52 feedlots with 2,000 cattle or more, 46 percent are corporate owned. among the 15 largest 6,000 plus head, 66 percent corporate owned.
