Meth-Wick completes Woodlands upgrade with therapy pools
The Meth-Wick Community finished a 5 million expansion at The Woodlands adding two warm water therapy pools and a WalaLight interior system. The project included a 5 000 square foot therapy addition, upgraded kitchens, and improved outdoor courtyard with a public open house planned for June 10. The Hall-Perrine Foundation provided 1.5 million in matching funding, leaving 3.5 million to raise. The pools feature HydroWorx units heated to 92 degrees with adjustable floors and underwater monitoring for real time feedback. A 104 year old former swimmer was among the first pool users, underscoring accessibility and health benefits for residents.

Iowa resumes egg inspections after bird flu pause
Iowa Department of Agriculture officials said inspections resumed Wednesday after a year long hiatus prompted by bird flu fears. Critics argued the move was premature, citing a 2010 salmonella outbreak linked to Iowa eggs and noting other states had already restarted inspections. Officials described the restart as sensible after migration season and outlined new safety protocols for egg handling including booties gloves or protective suits.
