Screens for minor testimony could promote perjury says Scalia
Justice Antonin Scalia argued during oral arguments in a Clinton Iowa case that Iowa’s pioneering law allowing minors to testify behind one way screens or via videotape may undermine truth in court. The trial involved two 13 year old girls who testified from the screen about a sexual assault in 1985. John Avery Coy challenged his two five year sentences in a case awaiting Supreme Court ruling.

Canney says rail reroute not a dead issue in Iowa
Cedar Rapids mayor Donald Canney says moving Amtrak through central Iowa remains under consideration after a Marshalltown meeting with railroad officials and city representatives. U S Rep Dave Nagle and Chicago and North Western officials attended. Amtrak eyed the C and NW tracks as an alternative route but cites western Iowa track condition as needing updates. No timetable was given for a switch, but Canney believes both Amtrak and central route cities could benefit.
