Forest City wind turbine trims district energy costs
Forest City Community School District reports its 150 foot turbine on the high school grounds supplied about 63 percent of its energy in 2000 and cut utility costs by nearly 60 thousand dollars. The project, born as a senior physics idea by Paul Smith, now serves as a real time classroom example of alternative energy and may gain value if electricity is deregulated.
