Center Point voters set to approve 1.1 million bond
Center Point Consolidated School District residents vote Tuesday on a 1.1 million bond for a new elementary school and gymnasium. Polls at the fire station open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The plan moves junior and senior high students into the current elementary building with K-6 in the new structure near the athletic field. The gym serves high school athletics and elementary PE. Superintendent John Schwiebert says taxes would be about 2.86 per 1000 of assessed value in the first year, based on several assumptions. A citizen building committee is sharing information rather than public meetings, and turnout is expected large.
