Iowa City man gets 12 years for toddler gun tragedy
An Iowa City man with prior firearms and domestic violence convictions was sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for possessing a stolen loaded semi automatic pistol that a 3 year old discharged fatally injuring himself in 2022. Chris Lee Gordon pleaded guilty to felon in possession of a firearm and felon in possession of ammunition. He fled Coralville after the incident, discarding the pistol on a Caribou Coffee rooftop. it was recovered later. The judge imposed 144 months with three years supervised release. The case was investigated by the Coralville Police Department and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
