The $17.5 million project by Aspect Architecture would convert the site into multifamily housing, possibly using federal disaster recovery funds, drawing pushback from preservationists and neighbors over demolition and scale. The developer would relocate $4.5 million in Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery funds from the proposed 520 E Ave NW site to the Ambroz site, while final design remains pending.
