Statue of Christ Unearthed in York Abbey Ruins
Excavations at St Marys abbey York by the Yorkshire Philosophical Society reveal an 18th century stone statue of Christ from a Virgin coronation group. It matches the York school of Prophets and Evangelists found a century and a half ago. Part used in a nave abutment foundation prior to 1294. The statue stands seven feet high.
