The Acreage Reserve Plan Aims To Aid Farmers And Cut Surpluses
The Acreage Reserve would pay farmers to leave 15 to 20 million acres out of production until surpluses normalize. It focuses on wheat corn cotton and rice, with direct benefits to crop producers and indirect gains for livestock and other farmers. It would lift prices on remaining planted crops and provide steady income from soil bank acres, while protecting livestock by limiting grazing and reducing feed grain production.
