College on the Way for Carrollton Students

Draughon’s Practical Business College plans a Carrollton branch to enroll about thirty students. If sufficient interest is shown, the school will open soon offering the same business training as in Atlanta and other cities at lower cost, keeping money local for board tuition and incidentals.

Epworth League Officers Appointed and Local Obituaries

The Epworth League met at 7 30 in the Methodist church with lower attendance than expected due to Chautauqua. Nell McKown led and Anne Lou Redwine will present the program next meeting. Col B B Thomasson 28 died after ill health, a UGA Yale grad and lawyer, Elks and Masons member. Charles Hammond died suddenly near town, leaving a wife and three daughters.

Holloway Calls For Popular Vote On Senator Election

J J Holloway declares support for electing United States Senators by popular vote but says the Legislature must choose this year. He asserts no pledges to any candidate and vows to act for the people's best interests if elected, stating he will be unpledged and independent.

Death of Mr. J. R. Harmon in Atlanta infirmary

Relatives and friends mourn the death of J R Harmon after months of ill health. He spent time in an Atlanta infirmary before returning home. Funeral services were held at his Longview Street residence Thursday morning conducted by Rev. W E Dozier with interment in the city cemetery.

Carrollton Chautauqua Opens with Noted Lecturers

Dr George R Stewart and Bob Seeds headline the Carrollton Chautauqua with speeches Friday and Saturday. Farmers Day Saturday features Seeds at 10 30 a m on How God Made the Soil Fertile. General discussion follows. Band concerts held twice daily and Sunday services promise a great treat.

Unique Entertainment At Fitts Drug Store

Invitations went out across the city for ladies to attend at Fitts Drug Store from 2 to 3 p m on Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday the under 18 guests were entertained. Fruit punch served and each guest received a souvenir 4 fan. Misses Christine Fitts Sadie Merrell and Fay Causey performed songs and music. Between 200 and 300 guests called each afternoon.

Special Election Ordered in Georgia County 1911

Pursuant to an order of Governor Joseph M Brown a special election is called for Friday June 23 1911 in the county to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Hon W D Hamrick.
