State Police Superintendent L Hand urged motorcyclists to keep headlights on day and night on highways to reduce accidents. He noted rising motorcycle registrations and ongoing fatalities, and cited laws in surrounding states as a model for Idaho.
A reader filled with social news from Lays Lake detailing visits by Mrs. Ralph Stoor Mr. Gil Thompson and Vernded the rodeo park outing at several homes plus weekend guests from Salt Lake City Auburn Calif Idaho Falls and Ogden. Attendees included Ree Somsen Voneal Ostler Roy Lois Tingey Wilda Somsen Martha Verda Vias and others. Public notice of a baby daughter born at Bannock Memorial Hospital and other family visits are noted along with a large lake meeting attended by property owners.
Idaho Department of Fish and Game proposes a 545 acre lake in Elk Valley on Caribou National Forest fed by a 50 foot dam. Forest Service and Fish and Game will jointly study waterfowl beaver sage hen deer moose elk habitats grazing impact traffic and rock strata to assess feasibility and safety before a final Forest Service decision next spring.
Idaho shores face ongoing litter problems as communities heed a national survey showing trash harms fish and prompts water closures in multiple states. Readers are urged to pick up two pieces of litter on each outing to help restore lakes, reservoirs, and streams. Idaho bans stream littering under state law.
Mrs Florence Jensen visited several days in Afton last week. Harry Dean Ozburn of Soda Springs visited church here Sunday. Mr and Mrs John Smith Salt Lake City are visiting at the J C Smith home. Odell Stoor and children Julia Sharon and LeRoy went to Salt Lake City Saturday to visit Mr Stoors father who was ill. Roy Stoor passed away Sunday afternoon. He had long been a resident of this community. Mr and Mrs Harry Stewart and sons Soda Springs visited Friday evening with Mr and Mrs John Soderman.
