Four year old boy dies in accidental camping shoot

Four year old Jody Lee Baker, son of Mr and Mrs Russell Baker of Idaho Falls, died Saturday at 10 15 am from an accidental shooting near the Eight Mile Canyon family campsite. Mrs Baker had a .22 pistol in a holster when it fell struck a rock and discharged into the boy’s right chest. He was taken to Caribou County Hospital where a physician pronounced him dead. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Manning Funeral Chapel in Pocatello.

Holstein Event Draws Dairymen From 8 Counties

Dairymen from eight counties in Idaho and Utah attended the Holstein Dairy Cattle Judging School sponsored by the Idaho Holstein Association and the Caribou County Holstein organization on Friday August 2. Daniel Mickelson directed the event with Jerry Strandlund and Bob Davis serving as judges as four classes were judged. Harris Mickelson and Sons hosted at their Grace area farm, with seven local herds providing animals.

Program on Idaho fishing shown to Kiwanis club

Idaho Fish and Game Information and Education Officer Dee Hibbert spoke at the Kiwanis meeting on Idaho fishing. He used slides to display fish species, dredge mining impacts, and migratory barriers from dams on the Columbia and Snake Rivers. He urged a water right to protect fish for future generations. Next Tuesday features a family picnic at the golf course grounds.

Caribou County Fair and Rodeo Opens with Packed Schedule

The Caribou County Fair and Rodeo kicks off with a multi day program at Grace, featuring a parade, junior parade, livestock judging, horse shows, cattle and swine judging, and a final LC.A. Rodeo. Highlights include a three wagon Shetland pony hitch, Paddy Buckaroo act, Little Buckaroo Rodeo, and a City of Fun Carnival. Organizers Willig Rowsell and others invite floats and announce prize categories for theme beauty and originality.
