Voters Approve Three Of Four City Bond Issues

Soda Springs residents approved three of four bond issues in a close tally. The interceptor sewer project failed by 11 votes short of a two thirds majority, while Water Revenue bonds, Street Improvement on Second South, and Fire Truck measures passed with narrow margins. Unofficial results note about 100 visitors registered in county but not city, with canvass to follow.

Downey Bulldogs beat Soda Springs 13 to 8 on July 20 as Soda Springs struggled with errors pitching control and lack of hitting. The game followed several weeks of play with Soda Springs showing ongoing difficulties.

First Grade Readiness Tests Scheduled at Hooper School

Break-In Nets Money and Narcotics Here

A break-in Tuesday night at Eastman Drug in Soda Springs yielded cash and narcotics. The burglary was found Wednesday morning when the owners’ son discovered the scene as the owners had left for Jackson, Wyoming for the July 24 holiday. The entry was through a roof air vent.

Red Cross Swim Program Set for August in Caribou County

The Caribou County Red Cross Swim Program runs ten days over three weekends in August at Spa Plunge Lava Hot Springs. Open to residents aged eight and up and 48 inches tall, with no time split by town. Evening slots include multiple beginner and advanced classes each day from 6:45 to 9 p.m.

Eh-Capa Riders to perform at Caribou County Fair

The Eh-Capas a group of about 50 riders known for high jumping and precision horsemanship will appear in Grace Idaho on August 10 as a feature attraction of the Caribou County Fair. The troupe from the Boise area is famed across the western states for daring horsemanship and has opened the 1968 season at Caldwell before appearing at the National Fiddlers Contest.
