Big barn fire destroys Henry George farm
Friday night Mrs Henry George of Vanlue area discovered a blaze in two barns filled with forty to sixty tons of hay. Sparks from a lantern likely started the fire which consumed both structures and all farming gear. A fine team and a driving horse were lost, one horse dying. total loss about 3000 dollars. The barns were insured but hay and equipment were not.

Caroline Strahan Richenbach died at her Leona home on September 11 1908 aged 65 years 7 months and 8 days She was born February 3 1843 in Union County Pennsylvania married Levi Richenbach January 28 1869 moved to Carey Ohio then to Kansas in 1872 Survived by four children who died in infancy She was a devout Christian active in the Church of Christ and a leader in good works The funeral was held Saturday at 11 am in the Congregational church conducted by Rev F A Bodwell The Troy Chief notes the community’s sympathy for Mr Richenbach

Hiram K Peirce died at his North Street home two weeks after losing his left arm in an accident He was born August 21 1833 in Lancaster County Pennsylvania married Whitabeth Brandt December 21 1854 and settled in Carey Ohio in 170 He served in the Civil War in the transportation department advancing to train master and corral superintendent He is survived by thirteen children and three siblings The funeral at the United Evangelical church included I O O F ritual and a large congregation burial at Spring Grove cemetery

Burglary Report From Mrs. Delaplane Home
Burglars struck the home of Mrs. Brown Delaplane in Sycamore during Sunday night September 13. They took between 4 and 5 dollars from two purses while burn marks and scattered matches were found in the kitchen dining and sitting rooms. Entry was made by removing a kitchen window screen and a borrowed Johnson Pennington box aided the climb.

Runaway Horse Terrifies Streets of Northern Depot
A creamery horse bolted from the Northern Ohio depot on a Friday forenoon, trampling along Vance to Main, breaking a wheel. Walter Carr tried to stop it at Main near the Galt House, was thrown, and injured. He received treatment at Brayton's drug store and recovered quickly.
