A storage shed at North Patterson Street used by Snyder Lumber Co. burned on September 15 at 9 45 p m and was a total loss. Eighteen volunteer firefighters responded. A second fire at the Jack Walter farm on Shu man Road September 16 at 2 50 p m required twelve volunteers. Cause unknown.
Gate sales totaled 3 976 for the day a figure 500 higher than last year and far above 1964. First four days single admissions reached 11 758 beating 1965 and 1964 totals. Grandstand daytime and nighttime sales lagged behind last year due to cool weather. The fair closed with a sheep shearing contest won by Robert Welch of Richwood scoring 97.0 with trophy from Hendricks Wool Co Carey and a strong field including Clifford Scott of Sycamore and Jim Dudgeon of Mr Vernon.
Army Private Larry L Bash 20 son of Mr and Mrs Raymond G Bash Route 1 Wharton Ohio completed a light vehicle driver course at Ft Jackson SC on September 9 He was trained in operation and maintenance of military vehicles up to and including the two and a half ton truck Instruction covered internal combustion engine operation and chassis assembly

A townwoman known as Jane Society Dame reforms after attending a Food Fashion Fair Cooking School in Carey. Prompted by a friend and husband she attends, wins a free grocery bag, and becomes active in bridge and social circles, praising the newspaper sponsored event.
Mrs. Bessie Turnbell celebrated her birthday Sunday September 18 at Riverside Park Findlay with a large gathering. Attendees included numerous Turnbell relatives from Toledo Carey Arlington Marion Clyde and Deshler among others. gifts and a cake from Toledo featuring pink and yellow roses.
Grimes Golden and yellow Delicious apples sweet cider Bic gal Johnathan and McIntire apples priced at 75 cents per peck Greer Orchard situated one mile east of Mount Blanchard offering these varieties and more for sale.
Regular meeting set for Thursday September 22 and annual Hobo party on Saturday September 24 attendance fee one dollar per couple. Bobby Nelson Quartet performs. Orders for cleaned and cut vegetables at Gibson's Ohio Station by 5 p.m for club delivery.
The Col Wm Crawford Chapter D A R presents a Harmony Shop window for Constitution Week September 17 to 23. Items include Revolutionary articles and heirlooms such as fur plated silver tablespoons from a wedding gift, a Bible, a handwoven blanket, rug, coverlid, brass candle holder, coffee grinder with pewter top, and a Constitution copy. Local members listed: Mrs Twining, Mrs F D Hurd, Mrs J F Dible, Mrs Mary Rook, Mrs Harry Hosafrosq, Mrs Robert Stombaugh, Miss Charlotte Montague, Mrs Gerald Traxler, Mrs Ralph Vogel.
Governor Rhodes travels from Columbus at 5 30 a m on Friday September 16 stopping in Freemont Clyde and Republic then Tiffin for coffee and a luncheon at Fostoria before visiting Sycamore Attica and New Riegel where a high school band greeted the convoy. He promises a state flag to New Riegel and plans further stops in Norwalk and Sandusky.

A four car rear end crash at State Route 53 and US 224 near Tiffin at 10 21 p m Friday Sept 16 sends five people to area hospitals. Injuries include neck and other abrasions with drivers Regina Nigh Arden Doppler Mary Courtad and Cheryl Koehler among those treated. Koehler faces Seneca County juvenile court citation for failing to stop within a safe distance.
Planning for the Ohio restoration of Indian Mill near Upper Sandusky proceeds under a state program to improve memorials. A turbine mill with dam and mill race will become a museum of milling equipment. Total funding is 25000 dollars, with 3500 released. completion eyed for June 1968.
The Fraternal Order of Police Wyandot County Lodge No 77 of Carey and Upper Sandusky sponsor a dance on Saturday October 8 at the Elk's Home Upper Sandusky. Music by the Hadyn Snyder Orchestra of Lima. Tickets are $1 and available from Carey or Upper Sandusky policemen.
The highest known school sits in Climax Colorado at 11316 feet above sea level. Students travel from both sides of the Continental Divide often using snowshoes to reach the classroom.
Mr and Mrs Parl Goff mark twenty six years as directors of the Goff Funeral Home at 225 W Findlay. They invited the public Sept 21 1940 to inspect their remodeled facility praised as the most modern in the state. The couple long served Carey area and the community.
