Carey Village Council Enacts Curfew and Fire Dept Reforms

Carey Village council held a post Labor Day meeting to enforce a curfew for under 15 at 10 p.m. and under 18 at 12 p.m., with exceptions for events. The fire chief explained resignations were staff removals. new members Robert Hunter Kenneth Myers and Richard Phillips were approved. Bids on a six inch water line were discussed and a sewer permit granted to Paul Heck. Two raises for village employees were approved and a disputed water refund was reviewed for irregularity.

Carey Driver Cited After N Vance Street Crash

An accident occurred at 7:45 a.m. Tuesday on N Vance Street at Brown Avenue Carey involving a truck driven by Rudy Hernandez Mendez Toledo and a car driven by Margaret E Altman Carey. The Altman vehicle was stopped to turn left when struck and pushed 144 feet. Altman sustained neck injuries and was hospitalized at Blanchard Valley Hospital. The truck received minor damage and Mendez was cited for passing without an assured clear distance.
