Carey High School Receives New Scoreboard and Flag Pole
Supt. G A Hartman convened a meeting of the Carey athletic committee to discuss a new scorer for the football field. The Carey fire department offered 250 dollars and to subscribe if the association could finance the project. The committee unanimously approved the scoreboard purchase using 400 dollars from athletic funds. A Naden electric scoreboard was ordered and installed by September 14 with total installed cost about 1350 dollars. Firemen subscriptions are expected to cover remaining funds and they also donated a new flag pole, used at the Leip sic game. The athletic association thanks the firemen for their effort in adding these improvements.

New Assistant Pastor Joins Our Lady of Consolation Parish
The Rev. Fidelis Van Dreumel OFM Conv. began duties as first assistant pastor at Our Lady of Consolation on September 14. He was ordained June 30, 1920, grew up in Grand Rapids, and has served in parishes across the Midwest and West, his first assignment in Carey. He comes from Terre Haute where he led St. Joseph's Church mission. Other assistants to Rev. Ambrose Finnegan include Rev. Marcellus Lell and Rev. Ronald Preg Ilasso.

Ohio school shortage calls for thousands of classrooms
Ohio education director Clyde Hissong warned that enrollment will rise 5 to 10 percent annually for five to ten years, creating a need for 6 000 to 8 000 more classrooms by 1954. He noted higher birth rates after World War II and indicates more bond issues and temporary buildings will be required.

Has Ribs Removed Orville Row of Alvada Recovering
Orville Row of Alvada is convalescing after rib removal on his left side. He previously had three ribs removed at White Cross hospital Columbus five weeks ago, and a further three on September 1.
