Fire destroys Tracy family home in Gahanna
Mrs and Mrs Jack Tracy and two sons Patrick and Tommy lost their five room home and all contents in a fire at 1 am Friday. The blaze started in the children's bedroom and left only partial wall remnants. The Ohio State Patrol Marion office alerted the family two hours after the fire. Loss includes law books law course notes WWII service records and cash. Patrick and Tommy stay with grandparents in Carey as new quarters are arranged.

Three Men Plead Innocent in Soybeans Theft Case
Three Carey residents were arraigned before Mayor Edwin S. Naus on theft charges related to about 168 bushels of soybeans stolen from the state game refuge near Carey. David H. Stansbery pleaded not guilty to one count, Carl Stansbery and George Ritter entered not guilty pleas on two counts each. They were bound over to the grand jury on £1,000 bonds and jailed in Wyandot County. The sheriff’s department assisted the investigation.

Boy Safe After Hernia Operation in Louisville

New Pastor Named at St. Joseph Salem
The Rev. Francis Xavier Knopp OFMConv has been appointed assistant pastor at St. Joseph Church Salem replacing Rev. Mark Mindrup OFMConv who joined the Franciscan Mission Band in Grand Rapids Michigan. Knopp ordained in 1945 at Holy Rosary Cathedral Toledo after studies at Our Lady of Carey Seminary. He spent a year at Marquette University and returned to Carey in 1947 as seminary staff and as buyer for the Franciscan Fathers. Salem parish marked its centennial with a visit by Bishop Karl J Alter of Toledo.

Valley Forge cadet undergoes appendectomy in Findlay hospital
Joseph F Dible, son of Mr and Mrs J F Dible, had an appendectomy at Findlay hospital at 420 pm Tuesday. A senior at Valley Forge Military Academy Wayne Pa, he collapsed with appendicitis while practicing with the football team at Indiantown Gap Pa last Friday. He was hospitalized, then returned home after condition improved and is recovering rapidly.
