The national encampment met in Saratoga New York last week with a large parade of veterans despite a driving rainstorm. Three deaths occurred from exposure during the parade and Charles G Burton of Nevada Missouri was chosen commander for the coming year with Toledo slated as the next encampment site.

Fire Brings Dry Kiln Roof Fire Under Control

On Saturday noon the roof of the dry kiln at Stief Bro's tile yard caught fire. Employees reacted quickly and controlled the blaze without calling the fire department. Loss estimated at about ten dollars.

Peculiar Missouri river case reaches circuit court

The case Orewsler against Oberlander concerns land split by a shifting creek near Sycamore. Mrs Orewsler and Mr Oberlander own opposite sides. gravel payment of 11.50 was deposited with the county clerk. The court wrestled with the river’s eccentric course and affirmed the lower court ruling denying Mrs Crewsler the money.

Wright rejects talk of war with Japan

General Luke Wright of Mesphis Tennessee former governor of the Philippines and ambassador to Japan has returned home and says war with Japan is not even respectable nonsense. He notes Japan is focused on Korea and China and predicts the talk will continue.

Two Cases Heard by Upper Sandusky Circuit Court

In Upper Sandusky last week the circuit court, with Judges Norris Donnelly and Horton, heard two notable appeals. Brinkerhoff against Aber involved a land and chattel mortgage dispute over a $30 note with alleged fraud, a Commonwealth Court verdict voiding the note and mortgage. Stevens against Hot concerned a deaccounting case where Miss Stevens owed Hot for property. a master commissioner found $1000, which was deemed excessive, and a muster commissioner was suggested.
