William J. Hunter of Upper Sandusky was named Wyandot district chairman of the Harding area council, Boy Scouts of America, at a St Anns Pilgrim House dinner in Carey attended by 30 Scouters. The gathering honored C G Knoblock who is relocating to Sturgeon Bay Wisconsin. The executive board later named H Alfred Donithen Marion chairman of the Harding pilgrimage for November 1 at the Harding memorial tomb. Plans for the Washington DC jamboree were discussed with 665 scouts camping under council leadership at Camp Owens.

The hot spell eased Wednesday with a rapid drop from about 95 to 60 by evening. Officials note the current heat wave is not a record, with past peaks reaching 90 degrees for five days in 1927 and similar ranges in 1897. The summer high near Frederick's grocery reached 111 on July 14.
