Eighth grade students conducted a science period experiment on air pressure using a light bulb with a vacuum. Buddy Pieraccini performed the demonstration as water rose into the empty space where the vacuum existed. Robert Lortz of Carey was admitted to Fostoria City Hospital with illness feared to be lockjaw stemming from injuries from a Toledo automobile crash two weeks earlier. He is the son of Mrs. Wilbur Kinney and had been working in Toledo. After returning to Carey for treatment his condition improved briefly before becoming critical again.
