The traveling soil laboratory will visit Carey on Friday September 18 from 1:00 p m to 6:00 p m. Farmers can have soils tested and learn from experts how to use fertilizers and lime to boost crop profits per acre. The First National Bank of Carey urges all farmers to attend.
Mrs C R Tate presided over the Home and Foreign Missionary society gathering at the Evangelical church. Mrs Henry Daymon explained a chapter from the year’s text and Mrs Hira Jacobs read a leaflet Amanda Jane. Mrs Cora Hart offered the closing prayer. Mrs A G Tozer will lead the October meeting.

Mrs. Charles Bowers of Sunbury sold her Muncie Street property occupied by Willis Wonder to Urban Wangler. The 80 acre Leo Gase farm five miles north of town was bought by Will Jaqueth of Findlay. Mr. and Mrs. John Davidson reside on the farm. Both transactions were handled by Newhard Real Estate Co.
Tonight a large Lutheran Men's Brotherhood meeting is set for 8 oclock at the garment factory to organize the Every Member Canvass next Sunday. The Con secration Service precedes the canvass and the pastor will preach The Acid Test with How Much as the evening theme. A Sunday afternoon service in McComb is announced and the Luther League meets at 630.
The agricultural department at the local high school reports 27 boys enrolled for the coming year. Classes mix Freshman-Sophomore and Junior-Senior groups, with about three fourths in agriculture 1 and 2. The program began Tuesday, and visitors and parents are invited to visit the department during the year.
Miss Ethel Shull daughter of Mr and Mrs J M Shull west of Carey and Brett Baker of Patterson were married Saturday by Rev S R Dunham at his residence in Upper Sandusky. Baker works at the Big Four pump station. They will live with the bride's parents for now. A dinner followed with guests including Miss Edith Shull of Bucyrus and Free Scoarse of Carey.

Mayor Blue on Monday fined Carl Ish of Fostoria 25 dollars and 6385 dollars in costs and fined Gare Ish of Fostoria 10 dollars and 685 dollars in costs for causing a disturbance Sunday night at Joy’s restaurant on E Findlay Street.

An 8-pound son arrived for Mr and Mrs Howard McKea five miles northwest of town. He has been named Paul.
Samuel D. Myers died at 84 after a long illness. He was born November 27, 1840 in Royalton Fairfield county and lived in Carey since 1843. Survived by widow Jennie Moore, daughters Mrs S B Beitler and Miss Mattie, a foster daughter, a brother James A. Myers, three grandchildren, and other relatives. Funeral services are set at 2:00 PM from his Findlay Street home with Rev. E. E. Cole and the Odd Fellows in charge. burial in Spring Grove cemetery. He was active in the Methodist church, Odd Fellows, Knights of Pythias, and Pythian Sisters. The Times asks readers to join a booster campaign offering a Chrysler Touring Car and cash prizes for subscription renewals and new subscriptions within a 15-mile radius.

Eight month old Helen Etha Fruth daughter of Mr and Mrs Earl Fruth died Wednesday evening from bowel trouble. She lived a mile west of Alvada. Funeral is planned for Friday afternoon but arrangements were incomplete at press time.
Rev Bert Jaynes was returned to the Carey church at the United Brethren conference held in Lima last week. His many friends are glad to welcome him again.
Marshal McKee arrested Sam Kindred, an employee of the Extra Big Four gang, on a charge of intoxication.

The Jennie Larmonth Missionary society of the Lutheran church will meet Monday evening with Mrs Arthur Byers.
The Carey high school football team starts the season Friday at 2:30 against Van Buren on the new grid behind the high school. Coach Brown reports a strong outlook with an upgraded backfield and four new players. The schedule includes games at Carey against Willard Forest Waite High J C E M Leipsic Upper Sandusky and a clash at Tiffin with Tiffin High plus a final home game versus Oper.
The Wall St Inn announces a Sunday chicken dinner to mark its opening with Hammond and Davidson promoting the event. Local patrons are invited to join for a meal and celebration.
The parochial school opened last week and reports enrollment about 20 higher than last year. Sister M Alphonso leads the first room with 12 boys and 17 girls in 1st grade, Sister M Dorothy heads 2nd grade, and so on through 8th grade with mixed boys and girls. Several graduates move on to Toledo and Marion high schools, and 29 new pupils entered the first grade.
Rev. F. B. Herbert of Grace English Lutheran church in Champaign will preach a farewell sermon Sunday at 10 30. He leaves for Lafayette Indiana to lead Holy Trinity English Lutheran and Purdue University ties. Under his 12 years here the congregation grew from 20 to 140 and a new church on Springfield Avenue was dedicated in 1919. He previously led the Lutheran church in Champlain and has been active with students. The church awaits a successor.
Abundio Mata a 21 year old Mexican, was struck and killed by an engine on the Hocking Valles railroad after stopping work with an extra gang. The coroner ruled accidental death. His father Jesus Mata of Mexico requested burial here.
Miss Velma Sloman submitted to an appendectomy Tuesday morning at the Home and Hospital Findlay. Dr Firmin was in charge. Her condition was reported favorable Wednesday afternoon.
The Carey Kansas City baseball team faces Tiffin at the public plant diamond on Sunday September 20 with first pitch at 2 30. J Orians and G Orians will handle Carey batteries.
