Booster Club Drives Funds for Carey Football Field Fence

The Carey Boosters Club met to launch a public subscription drive to raise 2820 to pay the remaining balance on a cyclone fence around the Memorial Park football field. A note at Peoples Bank covers the amount, and donations will be collected by treasurer Donovan Lanning during a Sept. 19–23 campaign culminating at the Sept. 23 game against Huron.

Going To Alaska

T/Sgt. Gene Needles is being transferred from Langley Air Force Base Virginia to a base in Anchorage Alaska with wife Ruth Anne and children Vicki and Terry. They visited relatives in Crawford and Wharton while en route from Buckroe Virginia and plan to leave next Wednesday driving with their boat and possessions for a two year assignment.

Carey Golfers Plan First Handicap Tournament

The first annual Carey handicap golf tournament is set for Sunday September 18 at Fairview Golf Course near Findlay. Entries accepted 7 am to 2 pm with 18 hole qualifying rounds using each player’s full handicap. The top 12 enter championship and two flights in match play for the titles. Trophies go to the three champions. all golfers and dubbers invited.

WWI Regiment Alum Attends 37th Reunion in Dayton

August Windau attended the 37th annual reunion of the 322nd Field Artillery Regiment at the Van Cleve Hotel in Dayton. About 200 veterans gathered. Windau had not seen any outfit member since the day before the Armistice, nearly 37 years earlier.
